The NEET UG 2026 counseling process is a crucial step for candidates who have qualified in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) to secure admission in medical, dental, AYUSH, veterinary, and nursing courses across India. 

The admissions or counseling procedure for NEET 2026 will start about a month after the results are announced. Two different NEET counseling processes will be offered: one for the 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats and another for the 85% State Quota seats. For the AIQ seats, admission or seat allocation is handled by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), whereas the State Quota seats are handled by the State Counseling or Medical Councils through NEET counseling.

Step-by-Step (For AIQ / Deemed / Central Institutions)

  1. NEET Result announcement and scorecard download
  2. Registration on MCC portal using roll number & DOB
  3. Pay fees:
  • AIQ: Rs 1,000 non-refundable
  • Deemed/Central: Rs 5,000 non-refundable + refundable security deposit (Rs 10,000–Rs 2,00,000)
  1. Choice filling & locking of preferred colleges and courses
  2. Seat allotment based on rank, category, preferences
  3. Upload required documents online
  4. Reporting to college for document verification and admission confirmation
  5. Subsequent rounds for upgrades or unfilled seats (mop-up/stray vacancy)

Ans. NEET UG 2026 counselling for All India Quota (AIQ) seats is expected to begin in late July or early August 2026, shortly after the NEET UG 2026 results are declared.

Ans. MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) conducts counselling for:

  • 15% AIQ government college seats
  • 100% seats in AIIMS, JIPMER, Deemed/Central Universities, AFMC, and ESIC

State Authorities conduct counselling for the 85% State Quota seats and private college seats within their states.
